The objectives of SWDGA are to promote interest and fellowship in the game of golf; to promote good sportsmanship and friendly rivalry among members by conducting regular sweepstakes and tournaments; and to foster the best traditions of the game of golf. SWDGA is an organization of amateur women golfers belonging to their member club, whose handicap indexes fall within the prescribed limits of SWDGA.
The management of SWDGA and its activities are entrusted to the Officers, whose policies are then implemented by Club Representatives, Committee Chairpersons, and Tournament Chairpersons. Officers and Representatives are elected every two years. Representatives also act as the conduit between Clubs and Officers bringing any ideas, suggestions for change, questions or comments to BOG Meetings for discussion and possible considerations. Committee Chairpersons and Tournament Chairpersons are selected by the President.
